About Applied Computing

Applied Computing builds foundation models for the most valuable and consequential sectors on the planet, all within the energy chain. We came out of stealth less than a year ago and have already seen exceptional success. We’re now looking to grow our team with world-class minds who are driven to grow into the best version of themselves and to put their shoulder behind the wheel of applied AI, so we’re recruiting a Senior FP&A Manager,

The Role

As the second hire in our finance team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape our financial planning and analysis function from the ground up. This isn’t just about spreadsheets and reports - we’re rethinking how finance works in an AI-first world.

You’ll own the budgeting and forecasting processes, build scalable models, and ensure our leaders have the insights they need to make fast, informed decisions. You’ll work closely with the Finance Director, leadership team, and wider team, playing a pivotal role in how we grow.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who wants to blend traditional FP&A discipline with cutting-edge AI tools -and grow into a future FP&A Director.

Location
Ideally you will be based in the UK or Europe and willing to travel periodically to UK.

What You’ll Do

Partner with the Business

·     Act as a trusted advisor to Heads of Department, helping them stay on track with financial commitments and make decisions driven by data.

·     Build and own financial models, from top-down sales-based scenarios to bottom-up resource planning.

·     Maintain and improve our monthly rolling forecast model.

·     Lead on cashflow forecasting, analysis, and reporting for the board and investors.

Analysis & Reporting

·     Ensure accurate management information, surfacing risks, opportunities, and trends.

·     Deliver performance analysis across departments, including cost optimisation to drive margins.

·     Build dashboards that translate financial data into actionable insights for leadership and investors.

Systems & AI-First Finance

·     Help move our FP&A processes beyond Excel into AI-native tools (e.g. Pigment, Datarails), experimenting with AI agents to accelerate decision-making.

·     Collaborate on systems integration (CRM, ERP, etc.) to ensure finance data flows seamlessly.

·     Build compelling, interactive dashboards that combine finance, operations, and AI-driven insights.

Leadership & Growth

·     Coach and mentor future team members as the finance function expands over the next 24 months.

·     Contribute to building scalable processes that won’t break as we grow in volume and complexity.

Must haves for the role

·     Proven experience leading FP&A at a Series A / B startup (s), with a track record of building processes for scale.

·     Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) with deep knowledge of financial statements.

·     Exceptional modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to simplify complexity.

·     Strong experience with AI-driven FP&A tools; SQL is a plus.

·     Experience building dashboards with modern tools (Power BI, Tableau, or within FP&A platforms).

·     Passion for business building and developing people.

·     Ambition to step into an FP&A Director role as we scale.

Success in This Role Means

·     Forecast accuracy and reliability.

·     Building scalable, resilient processes that adapt to complexity without slowing down decisions.

·     Becoming a strategic partner to leadership, driving insight and clarity from data.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll start by working closely with our Finance Director and leadership team. As the company scales, the finance team is expected to grow to ~6 people over the next 24 months, covering FP&A, people operations, and revenue operations.
